Money & Shopping
Cola War: This is what the battle between the two giants Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola is often called. It’s about market dominance in the area of popular soft drinks, for decades and still. Since 2022, Pepsi has been working to raise prices. The reason: They want to match Coca-Cola’s prices and thereby strengthen their own position in the market.
Recently, PepsiCo didn’t change the prices, but apparently changed the size of the bottles. This hasn’t gone unnoticed by the industry expert and Tiktok star “The Branch Manager”. Above all, he criticizes PepsiCo’s approach and asks: “Is this a scam or not?”

Lidl: “The branch manager” criticizes Pepsi prices on Tiktok
“The Branch Manager” reaches many young people with its videos. He reveals tips and tricks for shopping, but also gives further insights from the branch. He has more than 84,000 followers on Tiktok. Now he has published a viral video about the new Pepsi-Cola bottle. Until now, the normal price for a 1.5 liter Pepsi bottle was 1.49 euros, reports “The Branch Manager”. Now a Pepsi bottle still costs 1.49 euros, but there is now less in it – just 1.25 liters.
Because the bottle has become smaller but the price has remained the same, he wonders whether PepsiCo has created a deceptive package. “The bottle is now simply smaller and now costs 1.49 euros,” he criticizes. “I don’t think that’s cool somehow,” he says. You would simply have one less glass of Pepsi than before. “Is this an indirect price increase?” asks the Tiktoker and explains that he doesn’t know what to think about it.
The “crass” thing is that the remaining stocks of the 1.5 liter bottle are still being sold for 99 cents, he thinks and shows the sign that shows the discounted price.
Supermarket: Many people noticed the smaller Pepsi bottle
“The same with us,” comments a user who, according to his own videos, works in retail. The person says: This is “definitely a sham and not correct.”
The change has apparently not escaped the keen eyes of many Cola lovers. Pepsi has “generally become very expensive,” says one person. “It now costs the same as Coca-Cola,” explains someone else. “The branch manager” agrees.

So the battle between Coca-Cola and Pepsi continues. It was previously announced that Pepsi wanted to close the price gap with its competitors and equal the average price per liter and also that there would be two new bottle sizes.
What may have sounded like a bad April Fool’s joke to many stoners a few years ago has actually been a reality since April 1, 2024: Cannabis is legal, at least partially. Adults are allowed to carry 25 grams in public, and they are also allowed to grow up to three plants themselves.
